The times of the Middle Ages was one filled with harsh living conditions and even harsher punishments against criminals. The peasants had hard lives filled with lack of education, little money, and
lack of hygiene: which lead to the early death of many. To top it all off they were required to pay taxes to the nobles they served. So the free and spirited life of Robin Hood would have flared their imaginations and longing for freedom. He was the hero of the people and was a symbol of resisting the greedy nobleman. His stories would have being great entertainment to listen to. Nowadays Robin Hood is still as entertaining as he was in the 13th century! He still represents a brave hero who now represents justice and opposition to the cruel and scheming villains!! Everybody loves a good hero! But what makes Robin Hood truly unique and memorable is his unique skills as an archery but more importantly his role as an OUTLAW who protects the people. This interesting combination of a hero breaking the law has always intrigued the minds of those who hear it and challenges the very concepts of GOOD & Evil. It makes us question our own morals and roles in life. Thus inspiring us to do more good no matter what, even when the world thinks of us as villains or if those who control our lives prevent us from doing good. BUT! Beyond the mind twisting challenges the Robin Hood legend throws at us we will continue to remember him as the strange man wearing tights in a forest as he saved the helpless of England. :) |
